Modern retailers don’t stand still – and nor do attackers!  Protecting our systems, data and business operations from security threats is essential to maintaining resilience, customer trust, and our long-term success.  To support Clarks in this mission, we’re looking for an Information Security Lead to join our team and help identify, design and implement appropriate security controls to support our legal, commercial, and operational requirements – and improve our overall security posture.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will work with multidisciplinary teams across Clarks Technology and business areas to identify, design, and build security controls to protect Clarks’ applications, networks, and data from security risks.  Developing and embedding best-practice security processes and knowledge into technical teams, you’ll be supporting our alignment to Zero Trust principles and industry standards and frameworks (e.g. NIST, PCI DSS).  Through identifying opportunities for automation and optimization and driving maximum value from existing technologies and services, you will be working to continually strengthen Clarks’ overall security resilience.

Please note that this is a hybrid role with 4 days working in the office.

What You’ll Bring With You

Significant and demonstrable experience in information security roles with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective security control environments both tactically and strategically.  Knowledge of security and IT risk management methodologies and practical experience of applying these to operational business environments.  Good understanding of security controls and best practices across a number of the following areas:

  • Network and infrastructure - TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, firewalls, proxies, IDS, IPS etc.
  • Endpoint security (e.g. DLP, Endpoint Detection and Response, File Integrity, SIEM)
  • Operating Systems (Windows, Linux)
  • Database technologies (SQL, Oracle)
  • General cryptography practices (e.g. PKI)
  • Cloud environments (Azure, AWS)
  • ERP / SAP security approaches

Fundamental understanding of privacy and data protection laws and regulations and how they apply to technology environments (e.g. GDPR, PIPL etc)

Knowledge of common security frameworks such as ISO, PCI DSS, NIST etc

Holding at least one common security certification (CEH, CCSP, CISSP, CISA, CISM etc) alongside other relevant IT certifications (ITIL, AMP, Prince2 etc) or be able to evidence and demonstrate industry knowledge and experience.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking: a combination of invention and craftsmanship that has remained at the heart of what the brand does now. In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950, to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognizable signature that makes it unmistakably Clarks.

This season, we’re proud to introduce the Clarks Collective: five incredible activists championing authentic social change. From mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ rights to greater racial equality, these trailblazers are committed to creating a brighter future for us all – bringing to life Clarks’ new global campaign, For the World Ahead. Through spotlighting their stories and supporting their chosen charities and initiatives, we’re ready to lead the way. After all, we’re originators, not imitators. It’s who we are, who we’ve always been. And to change the world of tomorrow, we’re doing things differently today.
